Elisa Lam - My investigation - working profile.

Well this is a strange one, plus the hotel is riddled with mystery and deaths.

Well they said she had no drugs or alcohol in her blood, personally I think it was a setup, that hotel has too much mystery surrounding it.

Because of her body language as well it doesn't seem she was really scared, that's not how you act when you are scared.

The unnatural twisting of her hands was probably rehearsed, somebody set that up.

I don't believe in ghosts and Demons, there is no evidence it's just hysteria created by people.

Another clue is when she came out of the lift one of the times she jumps forward a bit, it's definitely a murder.

Her Internet history may shed some light, especially contacts from around that area where she died.

Somebody connected to that hotel, or some big crazy fan.

Nearby CCTV may show some pictures of her hanging around people.

Seriously if she started floating in midair then maybe something was up in a spooky way.

Somebody who knows how to disable lifts, maybe the owner's son, somebody got past the security, I would suspect that hotel has risen in value.

The only two possible explanations is it was done for money or a group of fanatic people, probably teenagers.

But my best guess would be financial gain, when the hotel is finally sold it would fetch more money if it was mysteriously mysterious.

Suicide, the probability is too low taking everything into consideration.

There was a camera in the lift, she would have known that, also that girl wouldn't have stayed there on her own, bipolar I don't think bipolar allows you to bypass security, if it does I want to be bipolar.

No way she could have staged that herself.

So how can it be solved? I would suspect the killer or killers are on the Internet, either the owner or some fanatic teenagers did this crime.

Or the janitor, it's always the janitor.

Sol Man
Apr 30, 2015
She probably was told that they are making a film and would she like to take part.

I'm actually growing towards a staff member connected to the group of teenagers, that actually fits quite well.

So find the website, find the killer/s.

Of course easier said than done if they are disguising their names.

It was based on the film dark water, seriously this has murder written all over it by a group of individuals that run a website and this murder will be on the front page, I would think about four people not including Elisa.

The website would be well-established, would be into the occult and all things strange, her Internet history would have been deleted and phone numbers, anything that is likely to trace back to their website.

It's got to be an inside job so one of the people who works there is involved, this person probably had an alibi and the other people staged it.

Also nine minutes in, you see her university picture, pay attention to her earrings, is her earrings a sign of what she was into, I'm no expert in pagan stuff, but for some reason it reminds me of a symbol.

Sol Man
Apr 30, 2015
Also on that picture nine minutes in shows 4 water tanks, if she was mentally ill she would have chosen one of the other 3 instead of the far back one, can't be certain because she could have tried to hide at the back, it's worth noting.

Sol Man
Apr 30, 2015
Also at frame 10.49 we see an old man, behind the old man is a woman, the expression on her face is extremely interesting and so is the dude next to her, who are they, especially the dude he is wearing sunglasses and has a raincoat on, highly suspicious especially her look on her face, her mouth, that definitely is one to check out, the right corner of her lips is slightly raised, I've seen this look dozens of times.

Sol Man
Apr 30, 2015
Also worth noting on that whole shot, the woman has a slight micro-expression around the mouth.

Would be interesting to see who was covering that story, also would be good if they are connected to a website like I described above.

Sol Man

If they are connected to the website then that's another clue because they would say that they covered it live on the website article.

Well apparently some of the tape in the elevator was missing, the tape was slowed down and apparently her sisters Facebook account and a message on it saying she's going to do some work at the hotel which was dated three days before she disappeared.

Seriously there's some dodgy body language people out there, I may not pick out three quarters of what they do but when I do pick out something I know it's interesting, since I naturally learned body language I cut out all the crap, I miss a lot as well unfortunately but I refuse to learn mainstream body language.

Don't want to be corrupted by all that crap, but still there is some good things to be had if I took the time to look at it.

Anyway I'm not changing my theory, it seems to fit more now with the Facebook message.

The autopsy said she may have been abused, but the strange thing is she was naked but her clothing was inside the drum, they showed signs of sand in them which I think is consistent with taking her clothes off and putting them on the roof floor,  it may have been at gunpoint.

It was premeditated, because you need ladders to get up on top of the drum.

The police said it was an accident because of bipolar, which is totally ludicrous.

Sol Man
Apr 30, 2015
So basically we have the dodgy police video, with one minute missing, I'm not going to bother trying to work that out because there's too many theories, it doesn't change anything anyway.

Sol Man
Apr 30, 2015
It could have been the police chopped a minute off, it could have been the killer/s.

So it becomes a non-fact, I don't like non-facts.

Sol Man
Apr 30, 2015
One more fact we can add, the day she went missing they had police dogs up they're searching, so cadaver dogs, unless the dogs were busy licking themselves and enjoying it too much I would have thought they would have picked up the scent

Sol Man
Apr 30, 2015
So we can say it's probable Elisa was killed after the police searched, so she could have been held somewhere.

If this is true the whole intentions of the killers was to create that scene out of the movie, possibility 70%

Sol Man
Apr 30, 2015
So the killers are probably around 18-30 years old, they would want to benefit somehow.

Now I've heard Sony is making a movie based on it, i wonder who the writer is? Also that was quite quick, and actually stupid, the writer is definitely a suspect and I really do hope it is him or her, just insensitive.

I don't know how Sony could do this so quick.

I have five possible suspects including the writer, I suspect everyone at the start, even the cadaver dogs.

Society is going to get a lot worse, it's social networking creating closed minds which is the problem.

Is there any other possible information I could gain.

Well there is the inconsistencies in the sisters Facebook account, the picture on the Facebook account doesn't resemble the sister, but I'm going to strike that one as a privacy thing and just make a mental note.

So three days before she went missing she wrote that on Facebook about doing some work at the hotel.

It does sound like a writer set this whole thing up, either that or the group of 4.

What links them all is the hotel, there is no way somebody could do that without somebody on the inside, but saying that it's impossible but highly unlikely.

Well I will think on it while I sleep, I wish I could think in sleep.

Sol Man
Apr 30, 2015
Well unfortunately didn't do any thinking while I was sleeping.

Sol Man
Apr 30, 2015
Now the dogs, I can't doubt the police at this stage so we will say the dogs actually were there.

But did they have any of her sent? Maybe.

So where was she held?

Well considering this was made to look like a mystery we need to think about something, I have a foggy mind, so I can't think.

I need to pick out words that I think would be on the website as well, but right now I need to clear my mind a bit.

This will happen again, if the murderers get away with it and because of the nature of the crime and because of how clever it was constructed tells me it's going to happen again.

If this was orchestrated by one person then a serial killer is likely, if it was a group and they gained financially, I would say it won't be long before they start planning their next move.

Whereupon if it was a writer then I would say they are done with it.

In fact I have just updated my search parameters to include dark water the movie.

If it is a fan then the possibility of the person writing a review is a possibility.

Elisa Lam.
21-year-old Canadian student at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver.

Yahoo - prefers Yahoo.

she planned to stop in San Diego, Los Angeles, Santa Cruz and San Francisco.

This is interesting, the dates are very important in this case.

she left her home in January 2013 - possible planning in December 2012.?

January 26 she arrived in Los Angeles and checked into the Cecil Hotel.

On January 31 - lost contact with family.

According to Wikipedia the elevator video, "At some points Lam's mouth is pixelized."

Is this because of her bipolar condition? Did somebody do it on purpose - police? Killer?

I would guess the police, if the killer did it and tampered with the video then I'm sure the police wouldn't have dismissed it?

It may have been too scary for broadcast? In which case she may have been acting or may have actually been mentally disturbed?

2005 - Dark Water film was made.

2013 - Death of Elisa Lam.
Place of death - Cecil Hotel - has a killer history.

The Bringing film by Sony Pictures - Jeremy Lovering.

Well the hardest thing about investigating crime sometimes is the fact that I can get too attached, after taking a long time examining Elisa Lam's blog and picking out her personality and her style, seeing the OCD posting she did and then all of a sudden it stops, it hits me quite hard, an emptiness, depression and desperation, it's like being stabbed in the heart, I can't help not having feelings about her.

I don't want to block it out, I want to feel it, I will block it out eventually but it definitely affects me.

I do feel deeply for her relatives, she was a nice girl, I think I understand the lift sequence a bit better but I don't want to think about it, that poor girl, if somebody did kill her I want to rip that dude to shreds slowly.

So her blog

From 2011 October upwards, she really does have a stable mind up until a quarter from the end, I see one pattern of depression which happens twice, it's quite faint and it is tapered, it is built up over about a week, consistent with anticipation, worry and questioning one's existence.

Her sexuality doesn't change much, she values women rather than men, she probably discovered her sexuality about sixteen, she has a loving family and she is well cared for, she has an urge for recognition but she has a level head.

Suicide did cross my mind but then again it's easy to dismiss it.

She is an isolated person but she has a clear outlook, she has a slight worry about what people think of her but she handles herself well.

I would need to do further study of her writing instead of just looking at pictures to gain any more information.

She mentions about stalking, which suggests she is over friendly, she is not streetwise, why on earth she thought she could cope on her own shows a lack of foresight, she must not watch much TV, we know she reads a lot, she has about the knowledge of a twelve-year-old concerning the outside world.

She definitely is a loving warm person, she must be quite stubborn on some topics, (convincing her family to let her go on her own)

She lived a very sheltered life, she wasn't into anything strange.

Considering she had bipolar but was on medication which it clearly did help her keep on a level playing field.

So the stalking would have definitely upset her and this is where the lift sequence starts to make a bit more sense, the stalking made her paranoid and the only way to escape was to play on her bipolar, the lift sequence suggests she was unsure if it was her bipolar or she was being followed, so the stalking set her off.

I have a feeling I just want to cuddle her and tell her it will be okay, which again suggests the above.

Well that's as far as I have got with her blog at the moment.

I'm actually quite annoyed that she was allowed to go by herself, she's the kind of girl that needed protection, but I know for a fact her family would have argued with her about it, this could account for the stress in the top quarter of her blog.

Sol Man
May 6, 2015
Her family actually monitored her well-being and would have sensed her need for adventure, it's consistent with the new puppy that was introduced to the family.

Sol Man
May 6, 2015
So the questions and inconsistencies, on balance it's still a murder. 75%

A possible theory.. She was stalked, paranoid, in the wrong place, someone took advantage and killed her, this theory is not premeditated, also this theory suggests one or two men, residents of the hotel, although there is no motive according to the pathology report, although the pathology report was sketchy.

There is the small fact she wrote and said she is going to do some work at the hotel, I would need to examine that writing to see if it's consistent with her writing.

There's the strange way concerning her death.

She lost her phone which could suggest stress.

The power of observation.

1. She was naked and her watch was found in the tank, she wasn't wearing it. Significant

2. She drowned according to pathology report. Significant

3. Whitish sand was discovered in her clothing. Significant

Three basic clues, the watch and her clothing was dumped in after she had died.

The reason why is you can make a makeshift float out of clothing, the watch could have been used to write a message on the inside of the tank.

The sand in her clothing was because they were stashed on the rooftop somewhere.

A high-ranking staff member of around fifty years old, it's always the janitor.

Sol Man
May 7, 2015
The watch was extremely significant, if she was wearing it then I probably wouldn't state murder.

The question is, is she smart enough to understand about making a float with her clothing, it may sound obvious but I bet some people didn't think of it, getting as much air in a piece of clothing as possible will create a float like structure, she could have easily survived days like this, enough time to write a message on the inside of the tank with her watch.

Therefore the killer knew this, he made her strip and get into the tank.

Sol Man
May 7, 2015
It doesn't matter if she didn't know how to make a makeshift float, the point being the killer knew, he knew about the possibility of writing with the watch.

The cold water would have brought her back to her senses if she was indeed having a mental episode, taking off clothing and indeed her watch takes mental effort as well as physical.

The killer left vital clues.

Sol Man
May 7, 2015
The killer is a long-term resident or he works there, he would be in his fifties, he would be as cool as a cucumber, very intelligent, a very quick thinking person, it wouldn't surprise me if he has killed before at that hotel.

If I saw him and questioned him I would pick him out, and in fact I need to examine that hotel and the people who work there.

Sol Man
May 7, 2015
I was actually wondering why things didn't make sense before I wrote today, I knew information wasn't slotting in, the theory I created today fits, apart from she had no broken fingernails and she didn't have bruising on her hands consistent with banging on the inside of the water tank.

Sol Man
May 7, 2015
Which could suggest she was dead before she went into the tank, I doubt she was dead before because of the sand in the clothing.

Sol Man
May 7, 2015
Well that was a proper Sherlock Holmes moment, I should have got this earlier to be honest, I was too slow.

Sol Man
I think I have learnt a valuable lesson, if hard facts and clues, information don't fit then there is a reason why I'm puzzled.. I work out the probability of something happening in a certain way based on the probability of information but apparently a number six bus with no engine in it is quicker than me.

I had the information I needed at the start, I did hint but didn't fully calculate everything in the right order, I severely reprimanded myself.

Fifteen lashes at noon or better still a mental note..

Now the thing is this is a working profile, gradually building up knowledge and theories, I did check the hotel out and they don't really like people videoing the hotel.

I'm going to be trying something different out, searching for clues where no clues exist, I'm not sure how to do this at the moment fully but it will benefit my intelligence, I'm going to have to work out the method I will use as well.

Interesting subject, I will think on it for a while, there's a whole wealth of information within information.

Examining the situation behind a clue.

I think this to some extent is automatically done in the mind, it took me a while to get there with the girl in the lift crime, so let's examine it.

The watch.

If she was going to commit suicide it's possible she would take it off, but I don't think this girl was going to do that, the evidence against it 85%.

Bipolar? Maybe the episode was about cleaning herself, getting rid of delusional thoughts of some kind, maybe at this stage she let her bipolar take over, who knows, it's clear in the lift that she was delusional to some extent, so this could be the reason she took off the watch.

The rooftop is where it all happened, now we can't discard that the hotel may have covered up some clues? maybe there was some ladders? and the security door wasn't locked?

If I made theories up about non-facts I would be here all day, but it's interesting to look at a cover up by the hotel, which maybe probable, how probable could it be? I did notice a woman acting strange, that's my strange which is 20% persona, it may fit with the sand, that building is old and refurbishment and maintenance may require sand, it's questionable but possible.

But the motive, maybe she was just found dead from a heart attack because she was just too scared because of her bipolar episode? If this is true then the hotel manager knows and this is the woman that looked strange a tad, the look certainly made me stop and think.

So the motive is to save the hotel's reputation? Or maybe to bolster the reputation of being a creepy place? this is an interesting theory, with a possible clue or two.

Sol Man
2:38 AM
The mystery hotel.

So my last post I came up with a theory about the hotel being involved, but of course if you weigh up all the probabilities it doesn't make sense, it would only make sense if a certain personality actually fitted one of the people, I'll explain...

Personalities and the way people think are closely related obviously, for a hotel staff member to do this it would be going against the hotel itself, it would be easier to take the body somewhere else away from the hotel, not stick it in a water tank tarnishing the hotel's reputation in the short term, so the likelihood of the manager and an employee sticking the body in the tank becomes less probable.

The strange look on the hotel managers face I saw can be explained away by her disgust about the crime, it's definitely plausible, but there was definitely not just one emotion in her face, there were other emotions lurking.

Sol Man
2:39 AM

So what now?

Well since we have figured out it was a murder we need to look at one vital clue, the clue being that she wrote three days before her death that she wrote she was going to do work at the hotel, this is a very important clue.

Did she write it?

What work?

How did she find out about it?

Who did she meet?

So we have some questions, it is possible she was just going to write about the hotel having heard its history, it's possible but I don't think this is the case considering she didn't write long posts but this is a special case but still too many but's.
